Listed below are certain asanas to try for hair growth:
Vajrasana
This asana improves digestion, relieves constipation, and combats stomach disorders. Hence, regular practice wards off digestive disorders that mostly triggers hair fall. According to studies, regular practice of Vajrasana asana for at least 3 months can reduce issues related to hair fall.
How to Do:
Step 1: Sit on the floor with back straight. Keep legs stretched out in front. Now place your hands, palms down, by your side.
Step 2: Fold your legs slowly one by one, and place them under your thighs. Make sure you are resting on your ankles.
Step 3: Place hands on your thighs. Relax and breathe slowly.
Step 4: Slowly straighten your legs and return to the original position.
Uttanasana
This asana is also referred to as the Standing Forward Bend Pose. It is the best yoga for hair growth. The asana helps rejuvenate the body and even lifts your spirits. The asana adds a rush to energy to the cells in the head, relaxes the mind, encourages deep sleep, and reduces episodes of splitting headache.
This is an intermediate level Hatha Yoga pose which should be held for at least 15-30 seconds. You need to practice it in the morning on an empty stomach or keeping a gap of around 4-6 hours between meals.
How to Do:
Step 1: Take a standing position while keeping feet shoulder distance apart and parallel to each other.
Step 2: Press feet down into the ground.
Step 3: Breathe out and bend down gently from the hips and place your chest and stomach on your thighs. Beginners can bend the knees slightly to reach this position.
Step 4: Gradually start straightening out your legs, keeping chest and abdomen on thighs.
Step 5: Elevate hips while straightening yourself through hamstring muscles while pressing heels into the ground.
Step 6: Once stable, cross your forearms, grab elbows and hang your head down.
Step 7: Hold on this pose for 30 seconds and slowly work your way to one minute at a time.
Step 8: Gently inhale and exhale while holding this position.
Note: – Do not shut your eyes throughout this Asana.
Kapalbhati Pranayama
The asana will help improve blood circulation to the body and reduces stress resulting in less hair fall and added growth. It will also add the much sought after luster and beauty to the face.
How to Do:
Step 1: Sit in Padmasana (spine straight and eyes closed).
Step 2: Inhale deeply with both the nostrils. Make sure you fill lungs fully with air.
Step 3: Exhale through both the nostrils forcefully. You need to exhale in a way to feel the pressure in the stomach. Repeat this for around five minutes.
Sirsasana
Also referred to as the ‘Headstand’, this is one of the toughest pose to master. However, once you do, it will help your hair in several ways. The asana enhances focus and relieves stress. It boosts the flow of blood to the head and scalp leading to hair growth.
How to Do:
Step 1: Sit with knees on the floor and hips resting on the heels.
Step 2: Bend forward. Place your forearm on the floor. Interlock fingers of both hands.
Step 3: Press back of head against the inner side of interlocked fingers and place the top of the head on the floor.
Step 4: Keeping toes firmly placed on the floor and lifting heels; raise the knees off the floor.
Step 5: Inhale deep and hold on to the position for as long as you can.
Step 6: Exhale slowly and get back to the original position.
While practicing yoga for hair growth, it is crucial that you add a healthy, balanced diet in your daily routine.
